Striking architecture, unrivalled views and a permanent buzz from numerous businesses, restaurants, bars and attractions: do you really need another reason to visit Bankside? If the answer is yes, you’re in luck! The annual MERGE Festival is back, a month-long celebration of Art, Music and Performance drawing on the rich heritage and contemporary culture of Bankside.

Established in 2011 and hosted by Illuminate Productions, MERGE has earnt its status in the London entertainment calendar not only for artistic talent but the opportunity for the public to explore some of the city’s lost buildings before renovation. Dating back over 6000 years, Bankside is one of the oldest settlements in Britain. With deep roots in theatre and a hub during the industrial revolution, the area is becoming increasingly popular as a destination for business and entertainment.

With artists working in unusual and challenging contexts an exciting programme is guaranteed. Previous years have featured Tamiko Thieles’ Fractured Visions, Bompas and Parr’s ‘Voice of God’ and Candy Chans’ ‘Before I Die’ instillation. This year highlights include ‘Drive Dead Slow’ inviting guests to ride on dodgems as they enjoy an interactive performance and a classroom of robots demonstrating human behaviours and reactions.

With 2 weeks left of great performances, make sure you visit after your event with us at Glaziers Hall.
