Sorrells Custom Wine Cellars has been trading for over half a century as makers of bespoke wine cellars. Making beautiful, unique wine rooms and wine cellars throughout the UK, Europe and further afield, each of their wine cellars is custom designed and built in England, with a focus on understanding wine quality and craftsmanship.
As part of the restoration of Glaziers Hall, the fifth unused arch basement arch will feature a wine cellar. Access to the cellar from the event arches to further enhance a wine tasting event or dinner.
A number of design decisions were considered to ensure the heritage of the Hall remained a main feature of the renovated basement. The Georgian brick arches will be up lit with LED lighting and glass portholes inviting a view into the cellar. The Grade listed Yorkstone floor, original Georgian brick arches and exposed granite London Bridge provide a wealth of historical features all set against an interesting back drop to the wine cellar. Wines will be housed in a bespoke and temperature controlled environment including ceiling mounted climate control systems .
Tim Lewis, Managing Director of Sorrells explained that this heritage installation in particular is a passion for their team, as with a restoration project such as this lies the opportunity to highlight a buildings original features and proudly display a link to the history of London.
With the Hall’s prime location, heritage appeal and unique basement space there has already been keen interest in using the space for dinners.
