The current events climate; Briefings, Meetings and Brexit

Last year, the UK Events Industry was valued at a staggering 42.3 bn, a figure based on direct spend by organisers and delegates, with a large proportion coming from outside the UK. Unsurprisingly London is the most profitable location but the city also ranks as #1 in the EMEA in terms of meeting and events activity with a strong presence from international clients. Last June, the UK voted to leave the European Union and the implications of this are still unknown for the industry, businesses and individual workers.

Since the vote, we have witnessed our clients adapting to the new uncertain climate by implementing quick decision making, arranging short lead meetings and hosting events to discuss the situation. As a leading events venue, we have seen an increase in the below:

Panel Discussions

An influx of enquiries for events hosting experts to predict and advise on the potential consequences of the vote. We recently hosted Powers Court, who with their extensive experience in assisting clients on complex communications issues, hosted a Brexit Briefing which provided insight into the challenging PR task of navigating through a period of prolonged uncertainty.

Our Banqueting Hall has the capacity for 330 theatre style offering a solution for larger meetings and briefings.

Conferences

The weeks before the vote, the days after and now nearly a year on we have welcomed many clients holding events for their employees, stakeholders and investors to discuss action plans to tackle the unknown circumstances. These events have often required high levels of privacy and security with many opting for exclusive venue hire in London.

Glaziers Hall is located on a private road which has the option of being hired exclusively, this is often favoured by public sector enquiries.

Networking

Change brings an opportunity for solution finding and innovation. This is prime time to meet and mingle across industries to find the best course of action for the coming months and years. Our River Room hosts many networking events, from breakfast meetings through to canape receptions.

We work with a hand selected list of caterers and suppliers from the detox kitchen – bubble food to ensure we find the perfect fit for your event.

Additional Meeting Space

Many of our local SE1 clients have requested small meeting rooms at short notice. Our London Bridge room is the perfect solution with capacity for 20 in boardroom, 30 in Cabaret or 50 in theatre.
